Jessie Cohan was born in Boston in 1981. She attended Brown University and concurrently studied at Rhode Island School of Design and Goldsmith’s College in London. Following her academic studies Cohan worked at a New Media Art not-for-profit, Location One in New York City. There she helped conceive Open Stitch, an exhibition of 12 artists spending seven days in a “mock gallery sweatshop” producing wearable designs with only the materials provided to them.

At present, Cohan works in New York City as a freelance fashion and prop stylist. Her clients include Nylon, W, Teen Vogue, L’UOMO Vogue, Anthropologie, WeSC, Bloomingdales, Harper Collins, Verizon, Blackberry, Def Jam, and Blue Note amongst others. Additionally, she has worked as a costume designer in film and fine art, trend consultant and buyer for Missioni, and takes on individual dressing and styling jobs.
